Day 79 Bobby Orr Again

I can't help myself when it comes to Mr. Orr. I never watched him play live except on NBC's game of the week on Saturday afternoon's which was only a couple of times. But I was glued to the TV when he came on. And I was crushed when they did not have him and my Bruins on. Who would want to watch the Philadelphia Flyers, who were just a bunch of goons (fighters)?

I dont really know how to explain him. You have to see him play for yourself.  This video talks about him.
Bobby Orr Video. And this video shows him in action. Bobby Orr #4 Just look for the guy with No. 4 on his back skating as if all the other players are road pylons with jersys on.

My dream was to one day meet him and get an autographed jersy. But now I just see him as a man who had an awesome gift. He, of course, recognized his talents as such--a present. And in those days he and the other players did not celebrate like they do today when they score. I like that old school mentality. Just because you score doesn't mean the game is over.

I think alot about his short career and if you read anything about his own feelings on the subject he always stresses that so many little boys and men dream to even play one shift in a game so nine years and two Stanley Cups is pretty darn good. He never complains about what could have been. But I often wish he could have played 20 seasons. My bet is that he would have surpassed Gordie Howe in many stats and Wayne Gretzky would have been chasing Orr instead of Howe.
