Day Twenty Seven

I was really hurting last week. My knees, legs, calves were aching. I think that three weeks of 6 day per week work outs started to take a toll on my 46 year old body.

I struggled to sleep at night, tossing and turning, and even felt uncomfortable walking around during the day. This is a different kind of pain than what I used to get when I was younger, playing football. By last Thursday, the pain was constant during the day. Even when I wore knee braces on each knee during my workouts, they did not soften the contastant ache.

I am used to muscle soreness from physical exhertion and I actually enjoy it. I feel like I am doing something good for myself. But this pain last week was more bone and joint pain. I have never felt that kind of intensity. One night my right knee felt hot or burned on the right side of my patella. And I tried to sleep through the night with that sensation. I could not find a spot that made it subside.

Not pleasureable in the least. I dont want to think about how really old people feel. It is not fun. My mom has arthritis in her hips and knees. She rarely complains. I can't imagine.

I was pushing myself an extra 30 min on the elliptical for the last two weeks. Obviously that cannot continue. I think I might push myself once a week or on occasion depending on how strong I feel.

So I will be easing back to 5 days a week and staying with 1-hour aerobic, meaning elliptical, treadmill, bike etc in two 30 min intervals 3 days of the week and then the other two days will be 30 min weight training and only 30 min on the gerbils. Hopefully this routine will help the discomfort go away and return me to normalcy. I guess I had to find where my bodies limits are.

To me the episode of pain last week tells me how much I want to change my life and how serious I want this but I need to back off and not push so hard. Patience....Patience.

I did not get to they gym today. I am extremely busy with work. I left this morning at 7:15am and I worked Monday night after dinner until I went to bed. Then I worked again when I woke before I dressed and left on calls all day. I did not get home until 5:45pm. Ate dinner and then back on the computer. We lost a seller. He has been with us for 12 years and he is going to another industry so we are in the middle of transition calls. And things are really picking up too.

Food:
Bare Naked High Protein Granola w/Almond Breeze Vanilla unsweetened for Breakfast
Lunch Chicken Mellazane at Mineo's in Westport. I did eat some bread with olive oil and some of the salad. There was pasta with the dish but only had one fork full.
NO Snacks in the AM or afternoon.
Dinner: Chicken Parm, small portion of Mashed potatoes, and snow peas.
Dessert: two oranges.
