Day Forty, Forty-One and Forty Two Feb. 10-12

Hi again. I have been extremely busy with work. And my BP is now up again so my experiment of not taking my Diovan is not working. The issue is that I have not been hitting the gym and I have failed with the protein shakes. Katie, I love the protein shakes--TOO MUCH. I am happy to confess that I am like a dog. If the bowl of food is there, I will eat it. Suzanne witnesses this. Please know that I don't snort or lick when I eat and it is not from a doggy bowl. Anyway I learned this about myself many years ago. So when I lived alone (pre-marriage), I kept my place devoid of all temptations.

When I was in college, living in the dorms, I learned how to survive on dorm food. The first semester I gained weight, which is normal. But then as the years went on, and after working in the cafeteria, I learned that the food wasn't all that appetizing. Once you actually see how they make it, you really don't want to eat it. Imagine large vats of pee with a butter slim on the surface. Yuck! It looked like some type of chemical spill, witch's brew, or child's vomit.

So when I entered graduate School, I moved into an apartment. Finances helped keep me within a food budget, but on Sundays I would splurge---KFC or something like that. Sunday was the fun day because in the dorms, we had to fend for ourselves for dinner.

Nowadays, my choice would be to not have "goodies" in the house. Suz is a candy freak. She hides her stash all over the house. It is like living with an Candyaholic. I find candy in various drawers, cabinets, closets etc and they are generally old and stale. I think she needs to join CAA (Candy Addicts Anonymous). She claims that the kids need to have goodies but they don't eat her goodies. They eat cookies etc. Needless to say the arguments with the kids over candy, treats never cease to end.

For my part, since I started this whole thing, I have not been rummaging around for her treats so to speak. Ha Ha. At least not those treats. Ha Ha. Nor have I been partaking in her baked goods. She loves to make brownies. She goes on these brownie binges where she finds "the recipe" to end them all. And then after a couple of brownies decides to throw them all away. I think we could create a good sized college fund from all the wasted powdered chocolate, sugar, flour, eggs, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips. Ha Ha.

Anyway....went to the gym on Wednesday. My knees have been killing me so I have been struggling. Will go again tonight. Food wise I have been doing well. Yesterday I had the last protein shake for lunch but I was starving at dinner and had some popcorn after dinner for a snack and a small bowl of Fiber One. So I am done with the shakes. People survived for years without shakes.

Have a great weekend. I am dreading the weigh-in tomorrow.
