No official work out today but I had one anyway. We (I) took down the X-Mas tree. Lots of up and down the stairs, boxes etc. Then my niece Jackie, her fiance Ryan and their friend Kevin, came to pick up the hefty Arhaus couch which was in my office upstairs. I helped take it to their pick-up. Who needs a workout? Once we got the thing outside sweat poured off my face and steam was coming off my bald head. Then back inside to put a guest bed in my office. I am tired to say the least.
There is an excellent article in today's Parade Magazine (in Sunday's St. Louis Post-Disgrace) about "Easy Ways To Lose Weight." Number four, which is number one for me, is BAN MINDLESS NIBBLING. Our pantry was my escape to the Land of Mindless Nibbling---WELL, NO MORE. The article can be found on pg 12.
We went to PF Chang's last night with DeDe (my mother-in-law). I dined on two glasses of wine, and I ate Almond & Cashew Chicken. Boy was it tastey. Could not finish it so I took the leftovers home for today's lunch. The old Bill would have stuffed himself like it was the last meal before I attempted to find the source of the Nile, but of course without physically backpacking to discover Nile's source. Ha Ha.
Overall, I am holding strong. I keep telling myself that the first two weeks will be the toughest (pure hell and torture). But as long as I stay focused, the plan will become "first nature" (first nature seems to fit better than second nature).
I will admit, as I confessed to Suzanne yesterday, that I have been consuming a huge amount of unhealthy food. Her response, "ah, duh". So now I am famished in between meals because that is how much I consumed. I am not really hungry. My body is just used to consuming all day long. I was really working hard at it to, obviously. What I am doing to help myself combat the pangs, you might ask?
I am eating fruit. I am keeping myself to BLD (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). But I am eating fruit and drinking plenty of water when I get the HUNGRYS. I will add portioned nuts down the road. I told Suz to buy the portioned little packs of raw almonds for now until I can fully control my portions. I also rate my hunger from one to six (six being full and one starving). I find that generally I want to stay in the 2-5 range.

Bill - I too am trying to create a healthy lifestyle for myself. Today I tried a Smart Ones Breakfast Sandwich. It is an English Muffin, cheese, canadian bacon and egg whites which are dyed yellow. It tasted just like an egg mcmuffin, no lie. Try it. Very satisying. It could be eaten for lunch too. Not sure what your weaknesses are but let me know and I'll help you out..........thanks for the blog. It's inspiring.
