Day 69 Hockey Part I

I am declaring my goal to get back on the skates. I played adult ice hockey for 14 years. Ten of those years I played pick up hockey two nights a week, Thursdays and Sundays. Then I took a year off when Emma was born. My close friend Matt, otherwise known as Big Daddy, talked me into playing in the HNA (Hockey North America) which is an adult league hockey. I played with him for four years until I just could not handle the 10:30 PM games.

Hockey is awesome exercise. Short, quick, hard bursts of energy that really whip you into shape fast. Why the sudden interest again. Well I have learned that there are a couple of early morning ice times at my municipality ice rink. Six am on Wednesday and Friday. Perfect ice time. But before I re-enter the ice, I need to get into decent shape, plus I need new skates.

Also another buddy has asked me to play in a Sunday night, 8 PM,  summer league with him which is very reasonable time.

The ten thirty times really got to me because I would get home around 12:30 and I would be all wired up. Then I would finally fall asleep at 2 am, but I would be exhausted the next day. I felt like a drank a twelve pack of beer but without all the fun that goes along with that. So I had enough. But earlier ice times are much more up my alley.
